Integrating Artificial Intelligence, Competence-Based Education, and STEM: Transforming Science Learning in Tanzania
This paper examines the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) within Tanzania's Competence-Based Education (CBE) framework to transform STEM learning outcomes at secondary school level. Drawing on a systematic review of 42 peer-reviewed studies and case study evidence from two Tanzanian schools, the paper presents the AIST Model — a five-component framework for sustainable AI-CBE-STEM integration. Findings show AI-enhanced learning improved STEM scores by up to 31%. Policy recommendations are directed to Tanzania's Ministry of Education, Science and Technology (MoEST).
